Yesterday within the round table of the EBA Logistics Committee government representatives (National Police of Ukraine, The State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, Department of Safety of the PJSC "UZ") and business representatives discussed cargo security on Ukrainian automobile roads and railways.
EBA Logistics Committee together with the Centre for Transport Strategies made a presentation of infographic about the most dangerous areas on the Ukrainian automobile roads and railways according to the information during 2013-2016 years that was given by Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
Business representatives shared information about real cases of cargo thieves on the automobile roads and railways of Ukraine. As it turned out these thieves usually occur at night (as business representatives noted, the most dangerous areas near the villageOleksandrivka of Kirovohrad region and village Reshetilovka of Poltava region).
Participants of the round table exchanged ideas about the possible measures to ensure safety on the automobile roads and railways of Ukraine:
I. To take measures by the law enforcement authorities for further investigation of the crime from the moment of entering data to the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations;
II. To open access to the Unified State Register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs concerning the registered vehicles and their owners;
III. To introduce regular patrol on the potentially dangerous Ukrainian automobile roadsby law enforcement agencies;
IV. To take actions to help prevent cargo thieves;
V. To increase criminal penalties for theft of infrastructure.
As the result of the EBA Logistics Committee round table it was agreed to appeal from business to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a request to help in solving the problem that occurred because of cargo thieves on the automobile roads and railways of Ukraine.
