General meetings

EBA General Membership Meetings serve as one of the main means for the EBA members to enhance their dialogue with the Ukrainian and European government officials. Such meetings are specially arranged for top and senior management of the EBA member companies, to give them a possibility to transmit their issues of concern directly to a responsible official as well as suggest their vision on solving these problems. Speakers usually include representatives of Cabinet of Ministers or Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

We are proud that top officials of the Ukrainian Government are open to direct communication with the EBA members, and that the EBA General Membership Meetings become a very efficient start of streamlined communication with the government for many EBA members.

In addition, the EBA holds its General meetings with the European Commission officials and heads of international organisations for the EBA members to receive professional update on development of the EU-Ukraine relations and on the economy and investment climate in Ukraine.

The EBA Regional Branches in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa and Zhytomyr are active in arranging regular General Membership Meetings for the EBA members as well. This activity allows EBA member companies in regions of Ukraine to set up and maintain efficient cooperation with local authorities, receive updates on respective issues from Ambassadors of European countries to Ukraine, EC Delegation to Ukraine and Belarus, learn more about trends and development of various markets etc.

LATEST EVENT REPORT

On 20 February 2012 the EBA held the meeting of its membership with the Member of European Parliament Pawel Kowal, Chair of the delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. Present at the meeting were the Deputy Head of Delegation of the EU to Ukraine Maria Jurikova and José Roman Leon Lora, Head of Operations Section 2 "Sustainable development: economic/trade and territorial", Delegation of the EU to Ukraine.

The meeting was conducted in a Q&A format, with the majority of inquiries addressed by EBA members to EU officials related to Association Agreement preconditions and EU’s attitude towards its future ratification.

In the course of her speech Ms Jurikova particularly emphasised EU parliamentarians’ strong will to finetune and initial the Agreement as soon as possible and sweep aside all technical barriers to its conclusion.

Later on, Mr Pawel Kowal stressed that refined political relations between EU and Ukraine, political will of Ukrainian Government to improve country’s business climate, liberalise visa regime, and observe human rights will influence greatly the process of Association Agreement finalising.
