EBA Lobbying

Modern governance necessitates close cooperation with stakeholders from all sectors of society. Therefore, civic and corporate interests contribute to the perception, presentation and definition of issues in Ukrainian policy-making. Ukrainian governmental bodies have come to recognise the benefits of being open to outside input, and consultation mechanisms now form part of their activities throughout the whole legislative process.

The main objective of EBA consultations and lobbying work is to maintain a favourable regulatory environment for the good of the EBA membership, balancing interests of market stakeholders and establishing the rule of law in the country, which serves both companies’ interests and contributes to public policy-making and the governance of a wide spectrum of specific policy sectors.

In order to give issues a genuine European dimension and context, the EBA constantly strives to stay abreast of legislative developments in the EU and keeps a watchful eye on the possible discrepancies with the legal and regulatory framework of Ukraine in order to maintain a level playing field between business and non-business interests.

The vectors of EBA lobbying activity may be seen as only the nucleus of wider issues such as public standards of behaviour, openness and transparency, remedying the democratic deficit and creation of truly European standards in Ukraine.

The instruments of EBA lobbying activity are policy papers, monthly sectoral committee meetings, investor support, and EBA appeals to governmental bodies.
