Risk Management Round Table - EBA Donetsk Branch
took place in the conference-hall of Donbas Palace Hotel. Reavis Hilz-Ward, Director of INTERPROJECTS GmbH consulting company, highlighted the risk management role in achieving business success. Mrs Hiltz-Ward examined typical risks companies are most likely to face like: changing market terms, losing credit, changing business volumes, losing customers’ trust, mis-managing and inflicting operational risks, etc. She stressed that nowadays advanced European companies treat risk management as a strategic function. “To ensure solid and sustainable growth, a modern manager must align the company’s risk appetite with its performance goals and manage both as an integral part of the overall strategy” - Mrs Hiltz-Ward concluded.

Help for flood victims in Western Ukraine - EBA Western Ukrainian Branch
On 23-27 July 2008 Western Ukraine seriously suffered from the flood that turned out to become a large-scale ecological disaster as well as a tragedy for a great number of families. The flood catastrophic consequences inflicted profound grief, vast damage and irretrievable loss on the local communities. Under the tragic circumstances any help and support will be valued - the local people are waiting and hoping for assistance.

FTA Position Paper press-briefing
The EBA officially handed over the FTA Position Paper to Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine Hryhoriy Nemyria and Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Valeriy Piatnytsky. On 26 August, 2008 the European Business Association arranged a press-briefing to present the Free Trade Area Position Paper initiated and developed by the EBA community embracing nearly 750 member-companies.

met at the EBA Kyiv-based office. Andy Wilson, President of East Europe Foundation, was the guest speaker of the meeting. Committee members discussed challenges of promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Ukraine's regions and why CSR was so important for the country’s socio-economic development. Mr Wilson emphasised that he was happy to notice constant development of CSR in Ukraine.

HR Meeting with Mr Sokorchuk, the Chief State Labour Inspector of Ukraine in Zhytomyr oblast - EBA Zhytomyr Branch
was held at the Zhytomyr Oblast Council. The participants discussed salary rise, salary indixation and implementation of labour legislation at companies. Mr Sokorchuk spoke about the main offences discovered by labour inspectors. 3000 organisations have been examined in the last 2 years and labour offences were discovered at each.
