New rules on facilitation of issuance of visas
January 2008. New rules on facilitation of issuance of visas came into force. The European Parliament has ratified an agreement between the European Union and Ukraine on simplification of visa procedures and an agreement on readmission (acceptance and repatriation of illegal residents). |

Agreement clears path for Ukrainian WTO accession, EU-Ukraine FTA
17 January 2008, Brussels. The European Union and Ukraine resolved yesterday the final outstanding issues in their discussions on Ukraine’s accession to the WTO. At a meeting in London, EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson and Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Hryhoriy Nemyrya sealed the final terms of the agreement. The agreement clears the way for the final approval by WTO members of the terms of Ukraine’s accession. Following ratification of the accession agreements, Ukraine will become the 152nd member of the WTO. The EU completed its bilateral negotiations with Ukraine on its WTO accession in 2003. |

Spanish Trade Mission in Ukraine, 3-4 July, 2007, Kyiv
The Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine is pleased to announce a Trade Mission of Spanish entrepreneurs to Ukraine to be held on 3 – 4 of July, 2007 at The President Hotel in Kiev.
With the aim of promoting trade and investment relations between Spain and Ukraine, more than 80 Spanish will participate. During this two-day event, Spanish companies will be meeting Ukrainian counterparts on a one-to-one basis with business matching purposes, looking for business cooperation and partnership in Ukraine.
All the interested representatives of Ukrainian companies may get in touch with the Spanish Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain to arrange an appointment with Spanish counterparts.

Strengthening the European Neighbourhood Policy
Brussels, 4 December 2006
The European Commission today proposes new ways to strengthen the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP1). The first 18 months of implementation of the ENP have shown good results. The new Communication sets out to increase the impact of the policy, by proposing ways that the EU can help partners who are willing to reform to do this faster and better, and provide incentives to convince those who are still hesitant. The new proposals are accompanied by progress reports on the Neighbourhood partners whose ENP Action Plans began to be implemented in 20052. The Communication will feed into work during the incoming German Presidency in the first half of 2007. |

Faster U.S. non-immigrant visa processing with required electronic visa application form
The U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section in Kyiv, Ukraine is pleased to announce an initiative to speed and streamline the non-immigrant visa application process. For non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled for November 1 and thereafter, all applicants must complete, in English, the internet-based Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF). The U.S. Department of State established this new requirement worldwide to improve efficiency and customer service. Currently, over half of Ukrainian applicants -- business leaders, sailors, and expedited visa renewal applicants -- use the EVAF. |
