22/02 17:00 EBA Annual General Membership Meeting

The meeting was held at the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in Kyiv and gathered over 200 representatives of the EBA member companies.

The EBA President Mr. Bjorn Markstedt reported about the EBA activities and development in 2005, with an emphasis on remarkable EBA membership development, notable diversifying of the EBA lobbying tools (Committees, EBA involvement into activity of governmental Public Councils, Collegia and working groups) and increased opportunities EBA provides for members’ business development.  

The EBA Vice President Mr. Jorge Intriago spoke to the EBA members about the update of the EBA Report ‘Barriers to Investment in Ukraine’.

Mrs. Anna Derevyanko, the EBA Executive Director, briefed the present about the Association’s activity plan for the current year.

The main focus of the meeting was election of 7 new members to the EBA  Board to replace the ones elected in 2004 (whose two year terms  has been over). Please click here to view the new composition of the EBA Board for 2006. 

The EBA members who attended the event were pleased to welcome guest-speakers from the Government: Mr. Ian Boag, Ambassador of the European Commission to Ukraine & Belarus, Mr.  Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Ignaschenko, Deputy  Minister  of  Economy  of  Ukraine, Mrs. Kseniya Lyapina, Head of Entrepreneurs Council of Ukraine. 

Participants of the meeting had a chance to hear update on factors affecting business development in Ukraine: current macroeconomic indices in Ukraine, forecast of the country’s economic development for 2006, opinions as to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine etc.
