The European Business Association held its first Ukraine Investment Forum at  the Reform Club in London on 02.11.2006. The Forum has been organized by the EBA in Ukraine,  The   EU   Ukraine   Business Council  and  The  All-Party Parliamentary Group, in  conjunction with the Ukrainian City Business Club, and sponsored by DLA Piper and Horizon Capital.

The Forum was specifically designed to provide delegates and the invited media with first hand information and practical advice from experienced professionals representing a broad cross section of the international community. This CEO level event was attended mainly by those representatives of British business community who are interested in investing in Ukraine but have not started their operations in the country yet.  Presentations reviewed the investment market from the legal, financial and practical perspectives  and  outlined the booming property investment market.

The  programme  included  presentations  from  CEOs  of  multinational companies  on  their  experience  and  success  in  doing  business in Ukraine,  including  DLA Piper, DTZ,  EBRD, Horizon Capital, Kievrianta, NAI  Pickard, PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Participants of the Forum also had an opportunity to hear vision of current business environment in Ukraine from the Governmental side: presentations were made by Ukraine’s officials – Ambassador of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland HE Ihor Kharchenko, Deputy Minister of Economy Lyumyla Musina, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Olexandr Savchenko, Head of the Ukrainian Centre of Foreign Investments Promotion Igor Zaglada.

Comments on Ukraine were presented by John Grogan, Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Parliamentary Group, Mr. Denis MacShane, Former Minister for Europe of UK 2002-2005 and 
Ian McCartney, Minister of State to the FCO and DTI (who was represented at the Forum by Neil Turner, Personal private secretary).

EBA Executive Director Anna Derevyanko emphasises: “We were pleased that governmental speakers took part in the event in person and provided the delegates with information essential for investment decision making. This fact evidences interest of Ukrainian authorities in creating positive image of Ukraine as investor favourable country”.
