took place at the State Tax Administration of Dnipropetrovsk region. The participants discusssed the budgetary receipts for the last six months and other issues.

Vitaliy Myronenko, Director of the Department for Taxation of Legal Entities of the STA in Dnipropetrovsk region, spoke about VAT administration applying a telecommunication network. According to Mr Myronenko, UAH 1,633 billion of VAT was paid for the first six months of 2008, which is 32% more than in 2007.  UAH 2,158 billion of VAT was refunded. Metal production exporters received the largest refunds.

Olexandr Leschenko, Director of the Department for Informatisation of Taxation Processes, presented results of the pilot project on electronic reporting to all state bodies of the city, which was launched by the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration. Electronic reports are received at the STA and the Pension Fund in the region. Social Funds don’t provide such a service yet. Mr Leschenko marked that many errors in data processing were revealed after the electronic report system had been launched. Currently one may review individual tax number of one`s  partner and therefore errors have decreased by 50%.

Anatoliy Dymura, Director of the Department for Taxation of Natural Persons, reported on administrating income tax of physical persons. The local budget received UAH 2,494 billion in the first half of the year, 73% of which constitute income tax payments. Due to implementation of simplified taxation system for natural persons in 1997, small businesses grew and began to pay larger amounts of taxes to the budget.
