27/08 18:00 General Membership Meeting with Lviv City Mayor Mr Sadovyy - EBA Western Ukrainian Branch was held with support of METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine in Hotel-resort Ozerny kray. The participants of the meeting discussed the problematic issues of an investment climate in Lviv, in particular within the framework of co-hosting Euro-2012.
Besides, foreign investors raised the issue of simplifiying a procedure on acquiring land plots for industrial purpose as well as cancelling land auctions.
Replying to the questions, Andriy Sadovyy stressed that according to the Law of Ukraine On State Budget of Ukraine for 2008 free land plots are to be realised only via auctions and there is no any other transparent mechanism of land purchasing. Thus the city authority only promised to facilitate registration of documents for purchasing land plots.
At the meeting the EBA Branch Board suggested organising a round table focusing on the Investment Forum preparation. The City Mayor approved this idea.
Moreover Mr Sadovyy expressed the intention to establish a new body – investment agency - in order to assist foreign investors in registratiing all the necessary documents and solving a range of other problems they face in Lviv.
Also the Mayor suggested holding regular (biweekly) meetings with city authorities to enable the EBA member companies to communicate with the Lviv City Council representatives and discuss business development issues.
After the meeting the EBA members communicated with the Lviv City Council representatives in a friendly informal atmosphere at the reception area.
