02/12 18:00 General Membership Meeting International Cooperation in Unstable Economic Conditions - EBA Donetsk Branch

was held at Atlas Hotel. EBA members and honorable gests exchanged views on perspectives of the Ukrainian economic development, its industrial and regional aspects.
Mr Boris Adamov, Deputy Chairman of the Donetsk Oblast State Administration analysed the economic situation in the region in metallurgical complex, coal industry, construction sector, banking system. He informed participants about the complex of anticrisis measures, which were developed by the DOSA and will be published in the nearest future.
Mr Ron Keller, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine, spoke about peculiarities of internal financial crisis, which existed in Ukraine long time ago. Low level of export and high level of import were its main evidence. Mr Keller adviced the Ukrainian government to focus on economy modernisation, investments attraction, banks capitalisation, closer collaboration with IMF, WTO and development of free trade with the EU. “In spite of the fact that the international investments will decrease, the Kingdom of the Netherlands continues collaboration with Ukraine and opens the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Donetsk”, - informed Mr Keller.
Mr Zheliko Kirinchich, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Croatia to Ukraine, and Mr Antonin Murgash, General Consul of the Czech Republic to Donetsk, told about economic developments in their countries during the crisis.
The First Vice President of Istil (Ukraine) Farooq Siddiqui spoke of the two main problems of metallurgic complex: uncompetitiveness of Donesk enterprises, their dependence on the world market trends. Mr Siddiqui marked that Ukraine occupies the second place in the world by the export of metal, and the eights place by steel production, 80% of which is exported. The current unstable world trends led to 60% reduction of production.
