-     to assess progress in macro-economic stabilization and growth policy;

-     to assess progress in introducing effective employment creation and poverty reduction measures;

-     to assess adequacy of social security policy.

 

The objectivities will be instrumental in highlighting the problematic issues and making suggestions for their solving. The findings will form the basis for future assistance of the EC to Ukraine.

 

The following representatives of Lviv Oblast State Administration were present at the meeting: Mr. Voznyuk M.A. (Chief of Economics Department), Mr. Stefanyshyn I.M. (Deputy Head for Agricultural sector), Mr. Holub V.A. (Chief of the Depertment for Managing Regional Resources and Economy of Natural Resources), Mr. Soroka R.Y. (Chief of the Depertment for Industry and Infrastructure Development), Ms. Muzychuk O.Y. (Chief of the Depertment for International Cooperation and European Integration).

 

During the round table meeting the following issues were presented:

-     organization of macroeconomic policy planning at the regional level and its coordination with central authorities;

-     planning of budget income and expenditure;

-     budget forecast procedures;

-     strategy of trans-border cooperation and trans-border infrastructure development; 

-     current situation in and perspectives of industrial, agricultural and fuel and energy sectors;

-     investment projects which are being developed etc.

 

Experts of European Commission also had meeting with Ms. Olena Bey, Director of the Bisuness Support Centre Newbiznet, and Ms. Nataliya Klymko, Regional Coordinator of the EBA Western Ukrainian Branch. During the meeting the following issues were discussed:

-         implementation of international projects in Lviv Oblast (USAID, TACIS, PAUCI, DFID etc.);

-         investment possibilities to Ukraine (establishment of daughter companies);

-         priority sectors for investment;

-         land issues;

-         barriers to investment etc.
