Mr. Lars Vestbjerg thanked to the Mayor for his personal presence and welcome speech during celebration of the Second anniversary of the EBA Western Ukrainian Branch and presence of Mr. Volodymyr Kvurt, Secretary of the Lviv City Council, at the General Membership meeting with EBA members which is the evidence of readiness of the Lviv City Council to cooperate and have an open dialog.

 

The main subject of the meeting was discussion of importance of cooperation between the Association and the Lviv City Council, having signed the Memorandum on cooperation (in mass media presence) with the following aims:

-      forming favorable conditions for foreign investors and solving of the problems restraining investment process;

-      forming an attractive image of Lviv city among potential foreign investors etc.

 

For closer dialog and effective solving of the problems which investors face the Board members suggested the Mayor to include of one EBA representative, who will coordinate cooperation of the EBA members and potential investors with Lviv City Council, to be an advisor for the Lviv City Council, and a member of Working Group of the Lviv City Council. On behalf of the Lviv City Council Mr. Taras Burhan, Adviser to Mayor on Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Investments, will be a responsible person for cooperation with investors, and the European Business Association in particular.

 

Mr. Andriy Sadovyi agreed to sign the Memorandum on cooperation prepared by the EBA Western Ukrainian Branch and adopted by Lviv City Council, and expressed his hope that this document would be a basis for cooperation with other enterprises or organizations.

 

At the end of the meeting Mr. Lars Vestbjerg thanked to Mr. Sadovyi for the fruitful meeting and handed over the last edition of “Barriers to Investment in Ukraine” (May 2006) prepared by the European Business Association.
