On 19 September, 2007, the Responsible Business Directory Ukraine was presented with the initiative of the United Nations in Ukraine. The launch of this unique project indicated how Ukrainian businesses were already acting on their commitment to ethical business and how they were turning this into real benefits for people of Ukraine. This project was supported by the Global Compact, the Ukrainian Citisens Action Network, the European Business Association and the American Chamber of Commerce, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Responsible Business Directory Ukraine was announced as the first bilingual publication in Ukraine featuring corporate social responsibility profiles of over 60 companies that work in the local market and implement responsible business practices in the country. 

The presentation was hosted by the UN Resident Coordinator Mr Francis O’Donnell. The Key Speakers who extended special greetings to the UN Team were: Ms Oksana Slysarenko (the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine), Ms Olena Panova (the UN Public Private Partnership Officer), Ms Barbara Felitti (the Ukrainian Citisens Action Network), Ms Andrea Raffaseder (the President of the European Business Association), Mr Jorge Zukoski (the President of the American Chamber of Commerce), Mr Oleksiy Kredisov (the Managing Partner of Ernst&Young).

The presentation of the Responsible Business Directory Ukraine was aimed at becoming of this Business Directory of an inspiration for more and more companies on how to do more in helping the Ukrainian society to overcome inequalities, preserve the environment and spread the benefits of development more widely. 

It was believed that the joint effort and social dialogue between the Government of Ukraine and business concerning realisation of the CSR in the context of the globalisation of the economy would promote restructuring of the economy of the country into productive and competitive force. The representative of the Government even stated its willingness to support this initiative as an annual one.

The event was held at the Paris Conference Hall at the premises of the Hyatt Hotel.
