Second Masquerade Ball “Carnivalia” opens the new season of balls in Ukraine on February 16, 2008, from 7PM to 4AM in the Hall of Columns of the Kyiv City Administration, 36 Khreshchatyk Street.
“Carnivalia” celebrates in one festive night the meeting of Winter and Spring: the ancient Ukrainian Stritennya, the elegant Vienna masked ball Redout (opened by the Austrian Ambassador), and the colorful and bright Indian Holi festival (opened by the Ambassador of India).
You will experience a show of different cultures: waltzes by the Kyiv Classic orchestra under the baton of the Herman Makarenko, director of the Kyiv Opera, sophisticated dances from the Indian ensemble Nakshatra, the world renowned Ukrainian dance and song ensemble Veryovka, Volodar, the legendary Nina Matviyenko and her daughter Antonina, opera baritone Oleksandr Vasylenko, protégés of opera star Volodymyr Hryshko - Alina Shalimova and Ernest Deryabin, Rosava, Iva Rich, Camalia, Katya Buzhynska, and guest stars Mita Chakraborty, Ravi Chaukhan from India.
You will see a fashion show by leading Ukrainian designers. Traditionally Carnivalia attracts over 500 exciting guests: businessmen and diplomats, political and cultural figures, stars of show business. Guests can take dance master classes with the choreographers of the TV dance competition “Dances with the Stars”. And Carnivalia focuses on helping philanthropic causes.
Dress code: evening wear – black tie or folk or carnival costumes. Masks can be acquired at the event.
